about

It’s no secret that the taco truck culture in the Bay Area (and across the country) is thriving. Sure, the streets and alleys of San Francisco and Oakland have always been dotted with taco truck vendors serving good, inexpensive mexican fare. But as Bob Dylan would say: “the times they are a changin’”. The street food scene is now mainstream; luring novice and professional chefs alike who are dishing up a cornucopia of flavors and styles that include: Asian fusion, American comfort food, creme brulee, tasty soups, curry creations, cupcakes and more. Even established storefronts are taking to the streets. And foodies in the Bay Area are eating it up — literally.

Why focus on just tacos and not the entire movement?

A few reasons…

The taco is the quintessential street food. So visually simple yet so complex in flavor. And let’s be honest, they are just plan delicious! No matter where the street food trend goes, the taco will remain it’s foundation.

There’s also an underground current brewing…taco trucks are starting to appear with the mission of turning this quintessential street food creation, gourmet.

This blog will evolve as I embark on a culinary journey to not only find the best taco trucks and taquerias in and around the Bay Area, but explores the culture and players that are making the Bay Area taco truck scene what it is today.

Salude!
